Scott Cathcart is an Ironman triathlete and an investor, management consultant and senior executive adviser to startups and emerging growth companies. He is an entrepreneur and multi-national business leader with global expansion, strategy, restructuring, corporate finance, capital raising, advertising, marketing, sales, business development, technology and new product launch experience spanning 25+ years. To manage the extensive amount of work he does developing, overseeing, and advising startups, Scott founded Cathcart Strategic Advisers in 2003 as an entrepreneurial venture incubator focused on scaling emerging growth and startup companies at the intersection of technology, cannabis, branded consumer products, and entertainment and lifestyle industries.

In April 2018, Scott Cathcart co-founded Pure Jamaican, a business operating at scale in Jamaica to finance the research and design as well as the production of pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoids. Through Pure Jamaican, Scott helped sponsor and guide the creation of two Jamaican-based charitable foundations, built to benefit rural, underprivileged, grassroots farming communities throughout the island.

An avid endurance runner and cyclist, Scott Cathcart regularly participates in marathons and triathlons, including the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco, an event he has completed every year since 1997; there was even an article written in 2016 when Scott completed his 20th Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in a row.  Scott Cathcart has completed the New York Marathon (two times), the Boston Marathon, and the Houston and San Francisco marathons, three of which he finished in under three hours. Scott Cathcart is also an Ironman finisher and a charter member of ZteaM Cycling, a national cycling club with chapters across the United States.

Scott Cathcart attended the Unviersity of Virginia, where he became a member of Delta Phi, commonly known as St. Elmo Hall. Here, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 1989.

More than 30 years later, Scott Cathcart remains involved with the University of Virginia and other alumni, currently serving as a Board Member on the University’s Northern California Regional Board. He was also a member of the University’s Gift Planning Council Advisory Board from 2001 to 2008, volunteering his time to help his alma mater raise more than $3 billion in a transformational capital raising campaign.
