Scott Cathcart is an Ironman triathlete and an investor, management consultant and senior executive adviser to startups and emerging growth companies. He is an entrepreneur and multi-national business leader with global expansion, strategy, restructuring, corporate finance, capital raising, advertising, marketing, sales, business development, technology and new product launch experience spanning 25+ years. For Ubisoft, one of three leading videogame publishers globally, Scott architected the videogame launch process across 14 marketing disciplines for North, Central and South America, and advised on the restructuring of Ubisoft’s internal advertising agency. As a senior advertising executive, he drove marketing strategy and developed advertising for major international brands such as Gillette, Nestlé, Kimberly-Clark, and Morgan Stanley at ad agencies Ogilvy & Mather, BBDO, and J. Walter Thompson. Scott Cathcart also led development of the North Atlantic (North America & Europe) strategic marketing platform for the Gillette Mach3, and managed the production of multi-lingual advertising and launch of the Gillette SensorExcel in the US, Canada and 17 European markets. Scott Cathcart designed and negotiated international supply-chain logistics for a food packaging technology startup backed by Dutch and Silicon Valley venture capital, and he has been a founder and/or senior executive at numerous startup ventures. For Steep Hill Labs, Scott Cathcart serves as the Chief Global Expansion Officer and personally architected Steep Hill’s licensee expansion program, which has placed Steep Hill into more geographies in the United States and Internationally than any other business in the cannabis industry – and which in the process has made Steep Hill the global leader in legal cannabis testing.
When he is not working, Scott Cathcart enjoys several athletic pursuits. An avid endurance runner and cyclist, Scott Cathcart regularly participates in marathons and triathlons, including the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco, an event he has completed every year since 1997 (see http://www.marinij.com/article/NO/20160609/SPORTS/160609805 for an aricle written about Scott’s 20th Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in a row in 2016). Scott Cathcart has completed the New York Marathon (two times), the Boston Marathon, and the Houston and San Francisco marathons, three of which he finished in under three hours. Scott Cathcart is also an Ironman finisher and a charter member of ZteaM Cycling, a national cycling club with chapters across the United States.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, Scott Cathcart earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Scott Cathcart remains involved with the University of Virginia and other alumni, currently serving as a Board Member on the University’s Northern California Regional Board. He was also a member of the University’s Gift Planning Council Advisory Board from 2001 to 2008, volunteering his time to help his alma mater raise more than $3 billion in a transformational capital raising campaign.
